Technical description
The ACO Maripur wastewater treatment plants have been exhaustively developed using biological wastewater treatment technology in combination with submerged micro-filtration units, optimised for use on ships and marine structures. The micro-filtration units (2) are directly installed in the bioreactor (1) and mounted above aeration elements located in the bottom of the reactor. All other components are mounted externally on the bioreactor side plates. The wastewater enters the bioreactor through inlet pipe on top of the unit. The aerobic degradation of water contaminants is provided by permanent aeration through the aerated elements located below the microfiltration units. The vigorous upward air flow within the membrane modules ensures that the membrane surface is permanently swept and freed of any adhering solids. The biologically cleaned permeate is discharged from the clean side of the micro-filtration units by the effluent pump (4). The low suction pressure of approximately 0.1 bar on the transmembrane side prevents solid filter cakes from building up on the membranes. The surplus sludge is discharged periodically from the bioreactor by surplus sludge pump (5). To minimise the risk of foaming within the bioreactor, ACO Maripur is equipped, as standard, with an anti-foam dosing system comprising of an antifoam liquid barrel (6) and dosing pump (7).
Efficiency of purification
The ACO Maripur system uses biological wastewater treatment in conjunction with a unique design of submerged low-pressure micro-filtration membranes. These act as a physical barrier between the activated sludge, bacteria and even viruses. As a result of this, the ACO Maripur technology purifies the wastewater - without the need for chlorination or UV sterilisation - to a standard that far exceeds the standards currently imposed by IMO/MARPOL, HELCOM, German Federal Law Gazettes No. II, page 1378 and No. I, page 1221, USCG, US Federal Law Gazette No. 40, section 133, Australian ADNOC and Australian Federal Environmental Agency and Alaskan Passenger Ship requirements.
Sizing, design
The ACO Maripur was developed as a modular system of four basic sizes for the treatment of combined black and grey wastewater from 25, 50, 100 and 200 people. However we are able to produce individual solutions for any requirement. The bioreactor is manufactured in AISI 316 stainless steel as standard. The bioreactor can be made from other materials (such as low magnetic plastics or GRP) upon special request. The ACO Marine units standard electrical range covers 400 – 460 volts, 50 or 60 Hz. Specialist offshore voltages at 690v are also available on request. GM-X Syteme
The collection and disposal of waste water is a decisive factor in ship-building for trouble-free operation of the ship. GM-X steel pipes meet the highest safety demands. The requirement for cost and weight saving can also be taken into account by the GM-X plug-in socket system. A significantly lower weight is possible with GM-X steel pipes than with welded pipes or threaded pipes because of the small wall thickness.
